JACKSON, Tenn. - NAIA No. 20 and third seeded Trevecca (37-9) saw their
season end today with a loss to top seeded Martin Methodist College
(44-12) by a final score of 1-0 in eight innings in the NAIA Region XI
Tournament on Thursday.
Two of the top teams in the TranSouth battled to a 0-0 tie through 7
innings in the elimination game. Finally, in the top of the eighth
inning, Martin Methodist's Karen Hargrove singled with a runner on
second to score the winning run and take the 1-0 victory.
Trevecca's Hollie Shane (29-7) picked up the complete game loss hurling
eight innings and giving up one run (earned) on six hits and four
strikeouts. Martin Methodist's Liz Adams (16-2) earned the complete
game win pitching eight innings of scoreless baseball on six hits and
striking out four.
Trevecca's Ashley McCool went 2-for-3 on the day while Martin
Methodist's Meghan McCary batted 2-for-2 with a walk and scored the
lone run in the game.
Martin Methodist scored one run on six hits and committed no errors
while Trevecca was held scoreless on six hits and played errorless ball.
The loss eliminates Trevecca from the NAIA Region XI Tournament and ends the Trojans season at 37-9.
