#2 Union Extends Tournament With 10-4 Win
NASHVILLE, Tenn. –The #2 Union Bulldogs 41-13-1 took on the
#3 Martin Methodist RedHawks 43-10 for the TranSouth
Tournament Championship.
The game remained scoreless until the Bulldogs scored a run and took
the lead for good in the second inning. Union scored again in the
third when Kristen Kolter hit a double to deep right field which
allowed two runs to score. Danielle Pope hit a three run homer
(15) over the right field fence which gave the Bulldogs a 6-0
lead. Union scored four more runs in the fifth inning making the
score 10-0. Martin Methodist scored a run in the sixth and three
more in the seventh, but couldn’t close the gap leaving the score 10-4
in favor of the Bulldogs.
For the Bulldogs, Kim Fuchs was 2-for-3 on the game with a run, a RBI,
and a double. Also for Union, Amy Chatham was 2-for-3 with a run
and a double. Earning the win for the Bulldogs was Mary Kosco
(23-9) with Kylie Sullivan at home plate. Taking the loss for the
RedHawks was Dara May (16-6) with Kristin Pitts at the catcher
position. As a team the Union Bulldogs scored 10 runs off of 12
hits while only committing an error. The Martin Methodist
RedHawks scored four runs off of 10 hits while committing three
errors.
