In his seventh season at the helm of the Trevecca volleyball program, Coach Scott Jones, aided by the leadership of five seniors, led the Trojans to a record-breaking 2003-2004 season.

The Trojans roared out of the gate with an 11-match win streak. The run included a victory over NCAA D-1 Tennessee State University. Perhaps more amazing than the 11 consecutive wins was the streak of 34 consecutive wins. The team averaged a 30-18 margin of victory in that stretch of 34 wins. The streak was stopped by then-No. 17 Georgetown College, who downed the Trojans in five games and ended both streaks.

Following the disappointing loss, the Trojans reeled off six more victories—all 3-0 sweeps— including TranSouth Conference wins over Martin Methodist and Cumberland. With a record of 17-1, The Lady Trojans split their next four matches, with both losses coming at the hands of No. 13 Lee in four games. After two more conference wins, the Trojans ran their record against NCAA D-1 opponents to 2-0 with a dramatic five- game come-from-behind win over crosstown rival Belmont.

The team finished tied for second in the TranSouth but entered the TranSouth tournament because of the conference tie-breaking rules. Trevecca hosted the conference and finished third with a loss to No. 14 Lee, the eventual champion and No. 1 seed. After a great regular season and tournament play, the team advanced to the Region XI tournament as the No. 4 seed. Trevecca advanced with a win over Campbellsville University in the quarterfinals before bowing out to Georgetown.

The Trojans set records for the most wins in a season (34), fewest losses in a season (8), and best winning percentage (81.0%). Of their 34 wins, the Trojans had 29 sweeps of their opponents, and only one—the thriller over Belmont—went the full five games. On the other hand, six of their eight losses came to teams ranked in the NAIA Top 25. Those two losses to unranked opponents were both to Union who was ranked No. 22 when Trevecca defeated it in the season finale.

Jodie Reimer, Crissie Cunha, and Katie Carter made the TranSouth conference first team, while Christa Rijswijk made the second team. Reimer and Cunha made the TranSouth All-Tournament team. Carter and Cunha made the All-Region XI team after leading the Trojans to their fourth consecutive Region XI Tournament appearance. Crissie Cunha also became the second Trojan in as many years to make the NAIA All-American Honorable Mention Team, duplicating the feat of Katie Carter a year ago.

Overall, the Trojans finished the season with a record of 34-8 and were 11-3 in the TranSouth. The volleyball team’s five seniors, in their four seasons with Trevecca, amassed an overall record of 110 wins and 49 losses. The four-year record is the best in Trevecca volleyball history and defines the excellence and rich tradition that has come to be known as Trevecca volleyball.
