Doug & Darla Kearce
The Kearce’s are a family devoted to telling children about Jesus. Doug and Darla are full-time Registered Evangelists in the Church of the Nazarene. Their ministry over 2 decades has taken them from farm labor camps to inner city sidewalks.
Doug and Darla met in 1982 in Florida where Darla was on staff at an Orlando church. Their relationship began, in Children’s Church, and has endured for 24 years. They have ministered to children in nontraditional settings; always searching for children who don’t come through the doors of our churches such as foster children in county group homes and children of homeless families.
In 2001, Doug and Darla responded to a call to evangelism to children. Darla resigned as a Children’s Pastor to devote her time to creating and writing for their ministry on the road. Doug left his position as a car dealer doing TV commercials to become an itinerant evangelist doing puppets. With his talent for voices, he has created some memorable characters. They now travel with 30 “talented” puppets! Darla and Doug have worked together for so long, scripts aren’t needed. The spontaneity not only leads to fun, but also allows the Holy Spirit to guide.
The Kearce’s joined Cross Style International Ministries in 2004. They relocated to the Nashville area where they are building a log house in their spare time. Their responsibilities with CSIM are: develop the training program and instruct the CSIM summer interns; write and teach a course on children’s evangelism to national pastors at CSIM Training Centers in Africa, India and Pakistan; create and present programs with the Cross Style message for children at revivals and Cross Style Conferences; and Cross Style workshops for adults who minister to children.
Their other projects for evangelism to children: websites and internet “Coaching Center” for kids’ evangelism and discipleship; children’s radio program; CD’s and DVD’s; and Children’s Church curriculum.
