Dramatic Arts at Trevecca

The Dramatic Arts Program at Trevecca seeks to provide an opportunity for students to study and participate in educational, community, and/or professional theatre.

Learning occurs not only in classroom settings but also through actual experiences in every phase of theatre production, both on campus and through off-campus internship experiences.  The program is designed to integrate personal Christian faith, service, and leadership with the goals of theatre as an artistic form of expression and education.

The Dramatic Arts Program produces 4-5 theatre productions for the Trevecca community and the Nashville community-at-large every year.  Each season typically includes at least one musical, a classic work, an experimental production, and a play focusing specifically on spiritual issues.  Auditions are open to anyone, and majors in dramatic arts or theatre education are expected to participate in most on-campus productions.

Students who major in dramatic arts or theatre education are eligible to apply specifically for drama scholarships.   Among the variety of theatre courses offered at Trevecca, specific courses in acting, design, directing, and theatre history are required of all dramatic arts majors.  By the time a theatre student reaches his/her senior year, he or she has begun to specialize in one of these major collaborative areas of theatre and is ready to create and present an original senior project in their specialized area.  The project presentation is open to the general public and provides a student with a culminating, professional capstone
experience in preparation for either graduate studies and/or
professional employment after graduation.
