Criminal Justice Admissions Process

 
Basic Admissions Requirements:
  • Age 23 or above, with work experience
  • Completion of at least 60* semester hours of college credit (from regionally accredited institutions) which must include 30 hours in general education.
-9 semester hours in communications and humanities
-6 semester hours in natural science and math
-9 semester house in social and behavioral sciences
-Additional 6 hours in any of the areas listed above

 *Applicants with fewer than 60 credits will be considered on a case-by-case basis
  • An overall grade point average of at least 2.0 (on a 4.0 scale)
  • Pass the writing and math assessment tests

Application Process:
  •  Complete the CJD Application and submit it to the Trevecca Division of Social and Behavioral Sciences with the $25 application fee (non-refundable). 

  • Request one official transcript from each regionally accredited institution attended. Each transcript MUST be sent directly from the institution to the Trevecca Division of Social and Behavioral Sciences via U.S. mail.
  • If currently or previously employed as a police or corrections officer, show evidence of having completed a law enforcement academy (for awarding of up to 24 credit hours).
  • If under age 25, have employer complete and submit an Employer Evaluation form (available upon request). 
  • Pass a math skills assessment test to demonstrate college level math skills (a study guide is provided). 
  • Pass a writing skills assessment test to demonstrate college level writing skills (an outline may be used).
  • Attend an assessment interview with your academic advisor (if applicable). Prospective students who transfer fewer than 84 semester hours (including law enforcement academy credits) or are deficient in any of the admission criteria will be advised how to correct such deficiencies. 
  • Upon notification of acceptance, payment of the $100 admission fee is required to hold your spot in class. This fee is non-refundable and non-transferable to anyone else or to a later start time. The admission fee will be applied to your first semester's tuition.
