Dwight M. Gunter II has served as the lead pastor of Trevecca Community Church of the Nazarene (TCC) in Nashville, Tennessee, since 2002. During that time, TCC has grown from 400 to more than 900 in attendance; has initiated a variety of ministries, particularly in an urban setting; and has worked to build bridges with the world beyond its walls. Before coming to TCC, Gunter had served one pastorate in Texas and two in South Carolina. Each congregation experienced great growth while relocating its facilities. Gunter is a graduate of Trevecca Nazarene University and Nazarene Theological Seminary, where he earned a master’s in religious education and a doctorate in ministry with an emphasis on leadership. As an adjunct professor at Trevecca, he teaches pastoral administration/leadership and pastoral theology. He is the author of Deliverance from Daily Giants (2006) and Seven Letters for Seven Churches (2011), and he co-authored Best Practices for Effective Boards (2012). In addition to his pastoral responsibilities, Gunter serves on Trevecca’s Board of Trustees, the Tennessee District Church of the Nazarene Advisory Board, and the General Board of the Global Church of the Nazarene. He and his wife, Karan (Blankenship), have two adult children and two grandsons.
