Add a Printer

  1. In the lower left, click on the Start button.

  2. In the Search programs and files field, type in: \\print1

  3. Then, press Enter

  4. A list of all network printers on campus will display. The 2 letter prefix designates the building. For example, "AA" is Adams Administration building.

  5. Double-click on the printer you wish to add. If it prompts to install, click Install Driver.

  6. To make it your default printer, do the following:

    1. Click on the Start button, then on Devices and Printers.
    2. Right-click on the printer you want to make the default.
    3. Click on Set as default printer.

Map a Network Drive (Share)

  1. In the lower left, click on the Start button.

  2. Right-click on Computer. Then, click on Map network drive...

  3. The Map Network Drive window appears.

  4. In the field for Folder:, type in the network share path. The format will be the following: \\Server_Name\Share_Name$. Most likely there will be a dollar sign at the end. You may select any available Drive Letter. Typically, departmental shares will be Z:\ drive.

  5. After typing in the path to the network drive, click the Finish button. The contents of the network drive will appear.
