Health Information Technology/Healthcare Administration

The School of Business and Technology and the Department of Information Technology invite applications for a full-time, tenure-track position in health information technology (HIT) and healthcare administration to help staff a growing information technology department and new healthcare management and information technology programs beginning August, 2012, January 2013, or August 2013.

Responsibilities will include teaching predominantly in the non-traditional undergraduate, and graduate health information technology, healthcare administration, and information technology programs.  The selected individual will become the administrator and champion of the department’s health information technology and healthcare management initiatives.  Teaching in the evening, student advising and normal committee assignments will be expected as well.  

Qualifications:  Ideal candidates will possess a doctorate in health information technology, medicine, healthcare, information technology, information systems, informatics, computer science, or related fields (those active in doctoral programs and those possessing Master’s degrees with extensive experience will also be considered).  Holding graduate degrees in both health and computing disciplines and/or significant experience in the healthcare field using information technology is a significant advantage.  Holding certifications or other credentials are significant plusses as well.  All applicants must have a personal commitment to Jesus Christ. Teaching and professional experience in the noted disciplines are preferred.  Demonstrated ability to administer projects or programs and to work collaboratively with industry and health/IT user organizations to develop and promote programs is a significant plus.  A demonstrated passion for students and the disciplines are essential.
