The Department of Communication Studies invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track 10-month position for teaching in the area of mass media beginning August 15, 2013. 


Teaching load may include audio, video, cinematography and digital communication.  Introductory and advanced speech courses may also be included as part of the academic load.  Faculty is expected to teach 24 to 27 credit hours each year.


The Department of Communication Studies currently has over 70 students enrolled in eight majors: Communication Studies, Dramatic Arts, Interpersonal Communication, Journalism, Mass Media, Organizational Communication, Speech Communication Education and Theatre Education.  There are five full-time faculty members in the Department and two part-time faculty members.  This opening is the result of a full-time faculty member retiring.    


Qualifications:  Ideal candidates will possess a doctorate in mass media, mass communication or a related communication field.  Masters degrees will be considered if the candidate has at least five years’ experience working in the mass media field.  Experience and technical expertise in the following areas is also desirable; documentary production and lighting for studio and stage.  

A demonstrated passion for students and the disciplines are essential.
