Overall responsibility
The Audio Visual Technician performs technical services that include onsite, telephone, and remote technical support for TNU AV equipment, event requests, and installations with minimal supervision.  The Audio Visual Technician is a regular full-time 12 month position which reports to the Director of Technical Services.

Key areas of responsibility include but not limited to:

  • Respond to HelpDesk AV requests for client support with high standard of customer service
  • Test, configure, maintain, install, and repair supported client AV hardware/software

(Data Projectors, Sound Consoles, Amps, Speakers, TVs, DVD players, Document Cameras)

  • Troubleshoot and maintain classroom Crestron Control systems and campus Nexia DSP, Crown, and Yamaha systems
  • Utilize student workers for chapel services and other campus events including coordinating and training while communicating with supervisor about daily logistics
  • Setup and operate sound and multimedia systems for special events
  • Create proposals and recommend equipment for AV upgrades/installations
  • Create and maintain Audio Visual related documentation
  • Provide inventory updates and changes to internal inventory database
  • Record progress and accurate resolutions into internal trouble ticket database
  • Coordinate warranty part exchanges/replacements with vendors
  • Provide administrative duties with loaner equipment check-in/check-out process
  • Communicate daily/weekly work strategy to Director of Technical Services
  • Other duties as assigned

  • Director of Technical Services and other ITS Department Employees
  • TNU Faculty, Staff, Administrators, and Students
  • Vendors

 

Qualifications:

  • Strong sense of customer service
  • Excellent oral and written communication, time management, and organizational skills
  • Advanced knowledge of common AV equipment and techniques
  • Experience installing, testing, upgrading, and supporting Audio Visual equipment including Crestron Control systems and Nexia Digital signal processors
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve Audio Visual issues, either independently or with help from vendor
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks at one time
  • Ability to patiently and adequately explain technical concepts to non-technical users
  • Physical ability to perform the essential functions of the job
  • AV installation experience required
  • Some live event Audio and Video experience preferred
  • Ability to program Crestron systems preferred
