Overall Responsibilities:

The ITS Desktop Services Technician will provide quality support services to the Trevecca community following established policies and procedures with minimal supervision.  Assist customers with effective use of university technology.  Assist other Desktop Support Technicians as needed.  The ITS Desktop Services Technician is a full-time 12 month yearly function which reports to the Director of Technical Services.

 

Key Areas of Responsibility (includes, but not limited to the following):

  • Respond to HelpDesk requests for customer support regarding ITS services
  • Provide follow-up and thorough customer service at a high standard
  • Diagnose and repair supported client hardware/software issues (Dell/Mac Desktops, Dell/Mac Laptops, Thin Clients, Scanners, Printers, Audio Visual Equipment, etc…)
  • Test, configure, and install hardware/software as needed
  • Assist with creation and maintenance of computer images
  • Provide basic troubleshooting, repair, and setup support for audio visual issues/events as needed
  • Evaluate and recommend new software/hardware for efficiency and potential use
  • Participate in assigned ITS Projects as needed
  • Input work orders, update progress and accurate problem resolution in HelpDesk Software System (SchoolDude) on a regular basis
  • Coordinate warranty part exchanges/replacements with vendors
  • Provide inventory updates and changes to Director of Technical Services

Qualifications:
 

  • Strong customer service focus
  • CompTIA A+ Certified preferred
  • 2+ year’s recent experience utilizing Microsoft Windows 7, Office 2007/2010, Dell and Mac Desktop/Laptops, and HP Printer maintenance/repair
  • Linux, Unix, or other system knowledge preferred
  • Excellent oral and written communications, organizational, technical, and analytical skills
  • Ability to work in a team environment with excellent interpersonal skills
  • Ability to patiently and adequately explain technical concepts to non-technical users
  • Understanding of industry practices and procedures as it applies to technical support
  • VERY Reliable
  • Basic networking knowledge required
  • Citrix experience is a plus

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL EFFORT:

  • Work is normally performed in an interior work environment
  • Some physical effort required as needed; lifting up to 80 pounds infrequently
