The library web page provides access to all library collections. By using the Catalog search box on the right hand side of the library homepage you can search the collection by author, title, keyword, journal title, call number and ISSN/ISBN numbers.  You may also choose Catalog Search from the menu above.

Searching for Journal Articles
Database access is restricted to current Trevecca students and faculty.

The Electronic Resources page is your access point to online journal article information.  Here you can search for a specific journal by title or you can search the databases by subject or browse databases by name

Print, back issue, and microfilm copies of journals are located on the main floor of the library. Using the Catalog Search and selecting 'Journal title' provides information on available formats and location of journals. The Advanced Search page also allows for journal title searching. Patrons can peruse the current print and back issues of the print journal collection located on the main floor of Waggoner Library.

Searching for books 

You can search for books by authors name, title, keyword and subject headings. 
The Advanced Search options page allows you to limit your book search by
  • location (reference or main collection)
  • by material type (CD, movies/video, printed music...)
  • by language
  • by date range
  • Sort results by copyright date, relevancy, or alphabetically by title
Searching for eBooks
Waggoner library has a substantial eBook collection. EBSCO eBooks, ebrary, and Project Gutenberg eBooks are our primary collections. All eBooks are discoverable when searching within the online catalog. You can also limit results to eBook format or search eBooks only if that is preferred. Instead of a call number you will see a link to the eBook. Click on the link to view the Table of Contents and other pages of the eBook.  All eBooks are viewable on your laptop/computer. Many can be downloaded to an eReader device. For information about downloading to various eReaders click here.

Searching for other types of resources

The CD collection is housed in the IRC and can also be searched through the Advanced Search. You would limit your search to material type which is 'Sound Record'.

Children's books are identified in the online catalog with JUV preceding the call number. These books are housed in the IRC, ground floor of Waggoner Library.

Course Reserve items can be displayed by using the Advanced Search page which includes a Search Option on the right margin for 'Reserves: Course Search' and 'Reserves: Instructor Search'.

Media and Equipment available on loan to students can be checked out from the IRC on the ground floor of the library. Several MAC computers are located here as well. Video cameras, tripods, digital cameras, screens and overhead projectors are some of the available equipment for loan to current Trevecca students and faculty.

Newspapers - located on the main floor rotunda area, the Newspaper Nook provides a relaxing place to sit and read current issues of the following newspapers - Tennessean, Nashville City Paper, USA Today, Wall Street Journal and Nashville Business Journal. Several electronic databases [Custom Newspapers, Academic OneFile and ProQuest] have significant full text back files of major newspapers such as the New York Times.

Teacher Education Resources are housed in the Instructional Resource Center, ground floor of Waggoner Library.

Trevecca and Church of the Nazarene historical documents are housed in the Archives collection, located on the ground floor of the library.  Archival materials that are cataloged are indicated by the word 'Special' preceding the call number. To access the collection, it is requested that an appointment be made with the Archivist, Andrea Fowler, 248-1798. Online editions of the Southeast District are also available through the library catalog.  They can be found by using a Title search for District Journals.

Video and DVD items can be located using the Advanced Search page.  Limiting a search by 'Material Type-Audiovisual' will give a result list limited to video or DVD items.  These are shelved on the ground floor in the IRC collection.
Searching other Libraries  

Trevecca is a member of the Nashville Area Library Alliance (NALA), a consortium of academic and public libraries in the middle Tennessee area.  NALA's online catalog, ATHENA, can be searched from the library homepage and allows you to search multiple libraries with one search statement. NALA libraries include: Tennessee State Library & Archives; Nashville Public Library; Vanderbilt University; MTSU; Belmont University; Volunteer State Community College; David Lipscomb; Tennessee State University; Aquinas College; Austin Peay State University; Nashville State Community CollegeWilliamson County Public Library; Brentwood Library; Cumberland University; Fisk University

Titles from your result list in ATHENA can be requested through ILL (Interlibrary Loan) .  There is no cost for ILL for current Trevecca students and faculty. Requests are typically filled within 10 days.
