Soccer coach resigns

Trevecca Nazarene University Director of Athletics Alan Smith announced that men's and women's head soccer coach Stan Herod has resigned his position, effective immediately. Herod will remain with the University as a professor for the remainder of the school year. Herod restarted the men's soccer program and started the first women's team four years ago. Herod posted a four-year men's record of 23-43-6 overall and 10-15-2 in TranSouth Athletic Conference play. In the last two years, Herod posted an 18-16-5 mark overall and 7-5-2 conference mark. Last season Trevecca's men's soccer team finished in a tie for second in the TranSouth with a 4-2-1 record and advanced to the Region XI tournament for the first time in school history. In the last two years, Herod has coached five all-conference players, an all-region, an all-American, 19 academic all-conference players, and three academic All-Americans. On the women's side, Herod finishes with a four-year record of 21-45 overall and 2-18 TranSouth mark. Herod's best women's team was in the fall of 2001 when that team posted a 7-11 overall record and 1-3 conference mark and advanced to the conference tournament. In the last two seasons 17 Lady Trojans have earned all-conference academic team honors, and seven have been named academic All-Americans. A search will begin immediately for Herod's replacement.
