More than 1,600 students and adults from the twelve southern districts of the Church of the Nazarene converged in Nashville, Tennessee, for the annual NYI/TNU event Top Nazarene Talent at Trevecca Nazarene University held April 14-17. The event began on Wednesday, April 14, with an outdoor barbecue in the parking lot adjacent to the historic Ryman Auditorium where the opening celebration was held later that evening. This year's opening celebration offered a night of praise and a challenge to live a life of purpose and meaning. Musical performances featured Adoration, EverPraise, and the TNT@TNU Gospel Choir. More than eighty Trevecca students were involved in the opening celebration through musical performances, testimonies, live-camera operations, and event production. Testimonies from two current Trevecca students and a recent graduate were followed by a challenging message from Tim Green, University chaplain. An exciting concert with the contemporary Christian music group Out of Eden completed this year's opening celebration.
TNT competitions began Thursday morning and continued through Friday evening. Students participated in Bible quizzing and competitions/events in music, speech, math and business, creative writing, art, creative ministries, soccer, tennis, table tennis, swimming, a 5K run, co-ed softball, golf, men's beach volleyball, men's flag football, basketball, and womenís volleyball.
TNT@TNU was an all-campus event that involved more than 300 TNU students. It permitted the Trevecca family to become reacquainted with the members of the schoolís education region (the Southeast) and for district NYI representatives, pastors, and alumni to renew friendships.
The Office of Enrollment Management utilized this opportunity to recruit future Trevecca students by offering individual information sessions with an admission counselor and by hosting an information tent where admissions representatives could meet with prospective students.
