More awards for athletic publications
For the sixth consecutive
year, Trevecca athletic publications garner awards. At the recent meeting of
the NAIA-SIDA (National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics-Sports Information
Directors Association), Treveccaís 2003-04 sports publications were again well
received.
Among the awards won
by Trevecca, the combined media guide for softball and baseball won the award
for "best cover" in the multi-sport brochure category for the second
year in a row. Greg Ruff, Trevecca's director for media relations in the
athletic department; Richard Hill, Trevecca Graphics; Chris Collins, assistant
baseball coach; Angela Sullivan, softball coach and Bill Thorup, Xpress Studios
photographer, created the cover. The softball side of the cover featured the
theme "Armed and Dangerous" and a photograph of the three seniors
with three members of the Nashville Airport S.W.A.T. Team and their van. The
baseball side of the cover featured the theme "Target Lock" and a
photograph of the nine seniors wearing full flight gear surrounding a
helicopter at the Smyrna Air National Guard air field.
Trevecca finished
fourth in the combined basketball brochure contest, came in fourth in the
multi-sport brochure contest with the combined softball and baseball brochure,
and ranked seventh with the schoolís first entry in the volleyball brochure
contest. Greg Ruff, Trevecca's sports information director, and student
assistants Billy Byler, Tim Shay, and Stephanie Byler, created those
publications. Trevecca finished seventh in the 2004 NAIA Web site contest.
Trevecca's sports
publications have garnered 18 top-ten finishes and 10 top-five finishes since the
University entered the first NAIA contest in 1999. In 2000 Trevecca earned
first place for its combined basketball brochure after coming in ninth the
previous year (Trevecca's first-ever ranking in this competition). The
publications team has now been honored with two "best cover" awards
and a runner-up "best cover" award during the last three years.
