President-elect Boone and Mrs. Boone visit campus today

Dr. and Mrs. Dan Boone arrived at Trevecca today, April 5, for their first visit to the campus since he was elected president of Trevecca on March 18, 2005.  The day's schedule includes an 8:45 A.M. meeting with University employees, being introduced to the student body in chapel at 10:30, a 1:30 P.M. press conference, and a 2 P.M. reception for the campus community.

Dr. Boone comes to Trevecca from his position as senior pastor of College Church of the Nazarene in Bourbonnais, Illinois; however, he is no stranger to Nashville. A 1971 graduate of Trevecca, he was the senior pastor of College Hill Church of the Nazarene (now Trevecca Community Church of the Nazarene) from 1985 to 1991.

In his remarks to University employees this morning, he thanked "persons who are no longer with us but who paved the way for all of us to be here today," President Reed for the "strong foundation that he has built at Trevecca," the Trevecca Board of Trustees for their confidence in placing him in "a position that will require much stretching for [him], and to the assembled faculty, staff, and administrators for "being part of God's redemptive work in the world."

Boone noted that he has much homework to do in the months until he officially moves into the role of president, a move that will take place July 1, 2005, following President Reed's retirement on June 30, 2005. President Reed has served as Trevecca's president since 1991. Boone, who holds degrees from Nazarene Theological Seminary and McCormick Theological Seminary, will be Trevecca's eleventh president.
