This week Trevecca’s newly re-organized chapter of College Republicans hosts a new event for the Trevecca campus—the Political Awareness and Leadership Sessions—and welcomes four Tennessee political leaders to the campus. Two are Republican candidates for the seat in the U.S. Senate that is currently held by Majority Leader Senator Bill Frist. Today (April 6) former U.S. Congressman Van Hilleary, of Spring City, Tennessee, and the former congressman from Tennessee District 7, will speak at 10:30; tomorrow former U.S. congressman Ed Bryant, of Jackson, Tennessee, and the former congressman from Tennessee District 3, will speak at 10:30. Both sessions will be held in Benson Auditorium of McClurkan Hall. Following those presentations each man will then cross the campus to visit with and speak to residents of Trevecca Towers.
On Thursday evening (April 6) Tennessee State Senator (District 17) Mae Beavers will be speaking in Mackey Room 103 along with Robin Smith, vice chair of the Tennessee Republican Party.
The re-vitalization of the College Republicans has been a result of the efforts of Trevecca student Jeremy Harrell. He has been assisted by Tyler Jones. The University is pleased to welcome these guests to the campus.
