Students spend weekend in tornado cleanup

Sophomore class chaplain Caleb Haynes planned and led a volunteer team of 28 students on Saturday, April 22 to clean up an area recently swept by tornados.  Steve Harris, dean of student development, assisted in coordinating the volunteer effort with the Hendersonville Chamber of Commerce.

The group cleared a hay field and filled a dumpster with articles that had been scattered by the tornado that hit the Gallatin area on April 7.

“I felt like we were picking up bits and pieces of other people’s lives,” said student body president Jonathan Moore.
