Trevecca softball team finishes top season
The Trevecca softball team's best season in history came to an end Tuesday, but it did not come without accolade. This season, Trevecca (47-15) set records in most victories, most home runs, first time to win regular-season and tournament championships, and first NAIA championship appearance.
In the NAIA softball national championship in Decatur, Ala., Trevecca finished with a 2-1 loss to California Baptist in the losers bracket of the double-elimination tournament.
In the game, the Trojans broke a scoreless tie in the bottom of the fifth inning. Jennifer Perkins doubled and was replaced by pinch-runner Jessica Leary, who stole third and scored on Laura Redmon's bunt. California Baptist (55-6) rallied for two runs in the top of the sixth and held on for the victory.
