On Tuesday, September 19, the Wood and Strings puppet theatre troupe held a puppet-making workshop for University students.
Members of Jeff Frame’s performance studies class were instructed, then given a hands-on chance to make their own puppets.
Wood and Strings puppeteer producer Clarissa Lega led the workshop, explaining her own use of design in the puppets she produces for the troupe. Lega finds inspiration in folk designs from across the world.
“It is a wonderful and fascinating way of doing theatre,” Lega said.
The Wood and Strings troupe is set to perform a double feature of “Out of the Mist” and “An Ire-ish Tale” this evening at 7:00 P.M. in Benson Auditorium in McClurkan Hall. The evening will blend folk theatre with Asian artistry and is sponsored by the Trevecca Nazarene University Cultural Arts Series.
