Author to speak in chapel

Author and entrepreneur Gary W. Moore is set to speak at Trevecca Nazarene University’s 10:30 A.M. chapel service on Wednesday, Nov. 8, on the topic of his new book, Playing with the Enemy: A Baseball Prodigy, a World at War, and a Field of Broken Dreams.

Moore’s book is set to be made into a major motion picture with preproduction tentatively scheduled for spring 2007. Award-winning producer Gerald Molen (Shindler's List, Jurassic Park, Rain Man, Minority Report) and Whitelight Entertainment will be producing Playing with the Enemy. Hailed as the 2006 non-fiction book of the year by the Military Writers Society of America, the novel is the story of Moore’s father, Gene Moore, and his Depression-era odyssey through World War II and the hardships of minor league baseball.

The author has also gained success as an entrepreneur, business executive, a speaker, sales trainer, and a musician. Moore is currently president and managing partner of Covenant Air & Water, LLC, heading the operation and expansion of a fast-growing and international business. He has been featured in publications such as Entrepreneur Magazine, Selling Power Magazine, Sales and Marketing Management Magazine, Impromptu Magazine and Southwest Airlines' Spirit Magazine, and was named the 1995 Bradley-Bourbonnais Chamber of Commerce Businessperson of the Year. In 1996 Moore was awarded the prestigious Sam Walton Leadership Award. Moore is a graduate of VanderCook College of Music (BMEd 1976). He currently resides in Bourbonnais, Illinois.
