Larry Buess, Professor of Mathematics
After 29 years of service to Trevecca, Professor of Mathematics Larry Buess will retire at the close of the spring semester.
Buess appreciates the Trevecca atmosphere and the time he has spent here.
“I get to teach what I love,” Buess said. “University students are fun to teach because they are here to learn. I have had some very fine students.”
Buess has a rich history with the Church of the Nazarene and Nazarene Colleges. He graduated from the Nazarene college in his educational zone, Olivet Nazarene University. After graduation, Buess taught for five years in a public high school, received his master’s degree from Purdue University, and then joined the faculty of Mount Vernon Nazarene College during its pioneer year.
In 1978, Buess and his wife came to Nashville after serving on the mission field for nine years in Beirut, Lebanon. In 1980, Buess became a full time faculty member within Trevecca's Science and Mathematics Department.
Buess is grateful for the way working at Trevecca has impacted the lives of his family.
