Landmark repositioned

A Trevecca landmark, the T-shaped rock that has long stood on the quad in front of the Adams Administration Building, was repositioned this week.

The repositioning of the rock, found to weigh 13,600 pounds, was completed in order to place it in a more prominent position in the quad. The construction of a new sidewalk allowed for the new resting place.

A crowd gathered to watch the event. A class was held outside on the occasion and students stopped between classes to see the crane lift the landmark to its new home.

Stories about the rock are currently being collected by the University. It has been determined that the rock was found and placed on the quad during University President Mark R. Moore’s time, 1968-1979.
