Women's golf: team, coach, Beaver TranSouth champions

Trevecca women’s golf team won the Eleventh Annual TranSouth Athletic Conference Women’s Golf Championships which concluded Tuesday, April 10.

This is Trevecca’s third year to be named conference champions.  In addition, the conference has named Trevecca’s women’s golf coach Michael Johnson as the 2007 TranSouth Coach of the Year for the third consecutive year.

The individual medalist honor also went to Trevecca freshman Betsy Beaver, who also earned Freshman of the Year honors.

The General’s Retreat Course at the Hermitage Golf Course in Old Hickory, Tenn. played host and the 5,824 yard course played to a par of 71. There were four teams and a total of 20 golfers competing.

Trevecca posted a school record 331 on the first day of the tournament and followed it up with a 340 on the second day. The two-day total of 671 ties a school record for a 36-hole tournament. NAIA No. 23 Trevecca is now the three-time champion and will move on to the NAIA Region XI Tournament. Trevecca is in just its seventh season of women’s golf.
