Drama professor wins award for third year

Professor Jeff Frame has been awarded a William R. Wolfe Graduate Writing Award at Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU), his third time to win this award. Frame, who is completing a Ph.D. in English (American literature, drama, film studies) at MTSU this year, received the award for his scholarly essay "Being into Becoming: Overarching Time and Robert Penn Warren's 'Trying-Out of Grace'."  Frame's other award-winning essays at MTSU focused on gender studies in Shakespeare (subsequently published) and on a Bakhtinian reading of Ralph Ellison’s novel Invisible Man.  Professor Frame currently teaches theatre and film studies in the Department of Communication Studies at Trevecca.

This honor, which includes a $1,000 honorarium, is awarded annually to only four graduate English students at MTSU for scholarly essays they have written as part of their coursework during the year.  Submitted essays are reviewed and competitively selected by a jury of MTSU English faculty referees.
