Softball team wins TranSouth tournament

Trevecca's Brittiany Johnson is named Pitcher of the Year for the second season in a row in at the TranSouth Athletic Conference tournament Friday, May 4.
NAIA No. 5 Trevecca (52-8) won 2-of-3 games on Friday, May 4, including a 2-1 win over #4 seed Freed-Hardeman University (35-13) in the championship game to take the TranSouth tournament title for the second season in a row.

The TranSouth Athletic Conference also released the 2006-2007 softball all-conference team Friday, May 4. Regular season champion Trevecca placed Brittiany Johnson as the Pitcher of the Year for the second year in a row. Johnson, an All-American, is joined on the TranSouth first team by Ashley McCool, Chelsea Bailey, Jennifer Perkins, and Sidney Crews. Laura Redmon and Maria Trapani made the all-conference second team.

Trevecca will travel back to Jackson, Tenn., on Wednesday May 9 for the Region XI Tournament. Seeds, opponents, game times will be announced on the Trevecca softball schedule and on the TranSouth website as soon as they are available. The NAIA Region XI Tournament will be held at Union University’s Fesmire Field in Jackson, Tenn.
