The University received the following message from representatives of Focus on the Family, sponsor of the mother-daughter conference:
It is with great disappointment that we send this email. After prayerful consideration, we've found it necessary to cancel next weekend's Nashville Closer: Moms and Daughters conference due to lack of ticket sales sufficient to cover our event costs. Your full ticket refund will be issued through PayPal to the credit card you made your purchase from in just a few days.
We realize that many of you - actually most of you - were planning to travel from outside the Nashville area from as far away as Alabama, Mississippi, and even Indiana to experience this life-changing event and have a fun mother/daughter get-away. We want to encourage you to follow-through with plans for a fun mother/daughter weekend getaway and make it a memory of a lifetime.
The unfortunate truth is, for whatever reason, ticket sales in the Nashville area just didn't result in enough to cover the cost of bringing in our team and other expenses. Wanting to be good stewards of God's money, we simply can't afford to come and lost thousands of dollars on this event.
Again, our sincerest apologies for this disappointment. We are disappointed too, but hope to be able to minister to you at another Closer event in the near future.
