Former Trevecca tennis player and current Trevecca professor Randy Carden was inducted into the Martin Methodist College Sports Hall of Fame during the 13th Annual Hall of Fame Banquet on Saturday, February 2, 2008.
Randy’s 1974-75 Men’s Tennis team was inducted as the 38th member of the Martin Methodist Sports Hall of Fame. The seven-member team was honored as a result of their successes as the 1974-75 Tennessee Junior College Athletic Association Champions and the Region-7 Champions. It was also noted that not only did these team members possess strong character and leadership skills during their collegiate years; they have also lived a very meaningful and successful professional lives.
Jeff Bain, MMC director of athletics states, “We are very proud and honored to have both Randy and his championship tennis team members now as part of our Hall of Fame family.”
“I am pleased and honored that my decision to recruit Randy Carden to Trevecca some 30 years ago has had such a great return,” said former Trevecca men’s tennis coach Alan Smith. “He has outstanding values, a heart of gold, and a great family. He is a loyal churchman and a great supporter of TNU. My life is richer because of Randy.”
