Summer Camps

A number of camps will be held on Trevecca's campus this summer, which include opportunities for  growth in musical and athletics skills.

Trevecca’s Lady Trojan Basketball will host the 2008 Nike Girls Basketball Camps on campus this summer. There will be team camps as well as individual skills camps held for girls in grades 3rd-12th. Camp staff includes Gary Van Atta, women’s head coach at Trevecca, as well as assistant coaches and Trevecca student players. The dates for these camps are as follows.

Team Camp #1 - June 16-18, 2008

The sixth annual YES (Youth Equipped to Serve) Conference will take place on Trevecca's campus on June 23-27.  The event is designed to provide leadership for students who feel led to serve in the ministry. This five-day event allows participants to take part in service projects, to worship through song, to hear daily sermons in general sessions, and to participate in themed evening events, all of which are assisted by Trevecca students. Participants will stay in on-campus housing throughout the event.

The first ever Camp Electric, set to be held on campus June 29-July 3, is an opportunity for Christian musicians to learn from and interact with today’s top Christian musicians. The camp will teach students band dynamics, the art of leading worship, and performance skills. Artists set to participate include Brian Haley (drums, TobyMac), Justin York (lead guitar, Steven Curtis Chapman), Michael Wittig (bass, Pillar), Daniel Carson (lead guitar, Chris Tomlin) Dave Luetkenhoelter (bass, Kutless) and more.

The Steve Hurst School of Music, held on the campus of Trevecca Nazarene University July 6-11, offers six programs of study for those who wish to enhance their musical skills for ministry purposes. The school offers extensive study in Voice, Piano, Songwriting, Praise & Worship (Church Music), Sound and Group Training for Organized Groups. The curriculum is designed to enhance the individual style and ministry calling of each student. Students range in age from 10 to 70-years-old.

Ben Speer's Stamps-Baxter School of Music is held on the campus of Trevecca Nazarene University July 13-25. Theory, harmony, songwriting, sight singing and ear training classes are taught daily. Private lessons are available in voice, piano, guitar and bass guitar. A daily lecture series features successful songwriters and music industry executives involved in various areas of music. Recent years' students came from 30 different states and ranged in age from 6 to 72. Participants stay in Trevecca’s air-conditioned dorms and eat in Trevecca’s Apple Dining Room.
