Trevecca Nazarene University

Ceremonies honoring Millard Reed

On Thursday, March 6, 2008, Trevecca honored former president Millard Reed by officially naming the School of Religion in his honor. The Chapel service that day was led by University President Dan Boone, who honored Reed with his sermon titled "A Generous Life." Christian musician Steve Green was also present, providing special music for the day.

Following chapel, a dedication service was held in Benson Auditorium, and the Millard Reed School of Religion was officially dedicated. Reed was also be the guest of honor at a luncheon. Many were there to support and offer kind words  to Reed.

During Reed’s pastorate at First Church of the Nazarene and then later during his presidency, 1991-2005, he regularly taught classes in pastoral ministry in the School of Religion and worked tirelessly to provide financial assistance that would make college possible for young persons who were called to ministry.

In bestowing this honor, the Trevecca family recognizes the far-reaching accomplishments of Reed’s 49 years of active ministry.
