Ben Speer's Stamps-Baxter School of Music celebrates 20 years

Ben Speer's Stamps-Baxter School of Music celebrated its 20th Anniversary at Trevecca Nazarene University July 13-26.

Approximately 250 students of the school met at Trevecca for classes, private lessons, meals and lodging in air-conditioned dorms.
Theory, harmony, songwriting, sight singing and ear training were taught daily. Students with musical training were taught how to apply it to the unique style that is Southern Gospel Music.


The week also featured nightly concerts with artists such as
Buddy Greene, The Chuck Wagon Gang, and Allison Durham Speer. A daily lecture series features successful songwriters and music industry executives involved in various areas of music, Bill Gaither was among those presenting during the lecture series.

Students came from around 30 different states and ranged in age from 6 to 72.
