Team Trevecca

The 2007 Country Music Marathon and Half-Marathon

Starting Fall, 2008, Trevecca Nazarene University will offer “Team Trevecca” as one of the latest additions to activities for students and alumni.

Team Trevecca was created to promote a healthy lifestyle for Trevecca students, faculty, staff and alumni. As an additional benefit, funds raised through Team Trevecca will be applied to the MHR Endowment Scholarship. The Management and Human Resources (MHR) degree is an adult degree-completion program in which adults can return to college and finish their four-year degree at an accelerated pace. Trevecca’s MHR program was the first of its kind in Middle Tennessee and has helped over 3,000 adults fulfill their dreams of earning their bachelor’s degree. If Team Trevecca members prefer, they can also support undergraduate scholarships.  Finally, Team Trevecca is a great way to reconnect with former classmates and professors.

For its first event, Team Trevecca is partnering with Elite Racing, Inc. and will participate in the 10th Annual Country Music Marathon & ½ MarathonTM  on April 25, 2009. Malain McCormick, of Elite Racing, Inc., stated, “It sounds like your students might be one of the most represented campuses running in our event…Best of luck in this program.”

Trevecca alumni
Sarah Miller Johnson '03 (MA in Counseling, Counseling Psychology) and Angie Quick Harris '02 (Accounting) show off their medals after completion of the race.

Between what the Country Music Marathon & ½ MarathonTM   offers and what Team Trevecca augments, the weekend of the race will be packed with fun events. Participants can enjoy the Health and Fitness Expo held at the Nashville Convention Center on Thursday and Friday (April 23-24). Friday afternoon, a pasta dinner will be held on the campus of Trevecca Nazarene University to celebrate all of the months of training. There will be pasta, door prizes, and time to catch up with friends and loved ones. Then it’s race day!  Saturday morning will be an exciting time as the team runs and walks the race.

When speaking of the race in Nashville, Adam Zocks, the event's general manager, stated, “Each year, both the race and the Nashville community receive positive responses from runners across the U.S. and Canada. As the world's second largest combined marathon and half-marathon event, Nashville has proved to be a great running destination."++  And when the racing is over, participants are invited to come back and enjoy the post-race concert provided by Elite Racing.
