Alumnus Morris Stocks ‘77 has been named provost and vice chancellor for academic affairs at the University of Mississippi. The provost is the university’s chief academic officer.

Stocks had been serving as the interim provost since December 2007. He joined the faculty of Ole Miss in 1991 and received numerous honors from the school including being named outstanding researcher and outstanding teacher in the accountancy school and winning the campus-wide Elsie M. Hood Outstanding Teacher Award in 1998.

Stocks holds bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degrees in accounting. He served as associate professor of accounting at Trevecca from 1981 to 1988.
