The TranSouth Athletic Conference released its 2008-2009 men's basketball awards and two Trevecca men's basketball players gained awards.
Brian Oduor was named to the All-TranSouth First Team, and Michael France garnered all-Fresman honors and was named TranSouth Freshman of the Year.
Oduor, a 6'4" senior post from Nairobi, Kenya, ended his final regular season with 614 points, averaging 21.2 points a game - good enough for eighth in the NAIA. He also grabbed 210 rebounds (7.2 pg) overall. He led the Trojans with 35 blocked shots and shot 57.1% from the floor, a number which ranked 20th in the NAIA. Oduor made the All-TranSouth Freshman team in 2005-2006. He is also ranked No. 29 in the NAIA defensive rebounds per game, and No. 41 in blocks per game.
France, a 6'2" freshman guard from Shelbyville, Tenn., averaged 9.9 points per game overall, and 10.8 points per game in TranSouth Conference Action. He shot 53.7% from the field and 44.6% from long distance. In TranSouth play, he shot 50.4% and had a stretch of nine consecutive double digit scoring games - including three efforts of 20 or more points - posting a double-double at Union on February 24 with 13 points and 10 boards.
