Stella Simpson, professor of education, delivered the challenge to the graduates. Three members of the graduating class spoke in response: Matt Taylor represented the graduating seniors, Josh Carlson spoke for MHR students, and Marvin Jones represented the graduate programs.

Charles A. Davis, Jr., chairperson of Trevecca’s board of trustees, offered congratulations to the graduates. The citizenship award, awarded to one graduating senior each year for outstanding service to the school, was presented to Drew Vinson.

An honorary degres was given to Steve Harris, Trevecca’s associate provost and dean of student development. Harris has served as a Trevecca administrator for 30 years. He is among the longest serving deans of students anywhere in higher education. Harris received an honorary doctor of letters.

A Baccalaureate service was held on Friday, May 1, at 7:30 P.M. in Trevecca’s Boone Business Building Convocation Center. Dan Boone, president of the University, was the speaker.

Following the service, graduates, family members, and guests joined Trevecca faculty, administrators, and staff in a reception hosted by the Trevecca Alumni Association.
