Trevecca was featured in a FOX 17 News story, “Lost Camera travels 20 Miles into Air Before Returning to Owner.”
The news clip, which can be found at the link below, features Trevecca Professor Matthew Huddleston. Huddleston led a team of Trevecca students and professors in setting up a high altitude balloon mission which would perform experiments as it traveled toward the edge of the earth’s atmosphere. The balloon was also equipped with a camera set to take still images of the balloon’s journey, but somehow during the flight, the camera detached itself from the balloon.
Three weeks later, the camera was found full of images documenting the journey. The camera carried no identifying information, but its finder, Vol State Professor Brent Carter, was able to locate Huddleston based on an image taken of the professor wearing his name tag just before the launch. Huddleston says, “Christmas came early for me this year!”
