Elija Brice, a junior on the Trevecca men's basketball team from Port-au-Prince, Haiti, has been featured several times recently by Nashville news outlets.
The interviews with Brice have been part of a series of stories on the earthquake that had brought on great devastation to Haiti. Brice has family members remaining in Haiti, including his father. He has still has yet to receive word from all of his family living there.
While world aid and rescue missions are under way in Haiti, Trevecca began an effort to help Brice on Monday, Jan. 18. During the basketball games that evening, the Trevecca athletics department collected more than $1500 from fans and friends. Those funds will help defray travel costs, as Brice is hoping to return to Haiti later this semester to see his family and to renew his passport.
If area fans didn't make it to the game but still wish to reach out, send donations to Trevecca Director of Athletics Brenda Patterson. Make checks out to Trevecca Nazarene University. For more information, call 615-248-1271.
