New-Student Summer Orientation and Pre-Registration

New-Student Summer Orientation and Pre-Registration 2010 began Thursday, June 17, with a series of events and sessions designed to welcome 202 incoming freshman and transfer students and their families.

Approximately 506 guests total attended the weekend's orientation activities, which spanned Thursday, June 17 through Saturday, June 19.

Thursday, June 17, featured registration times followed by a welcome messages and a kick-off for the event from University President Dan Boone and Tom Middendorf, associate director of the Center for Leadership, Calling, and Service.

Throughout the weekend, incoming students took part in the following activities:

  • Trevecca Inside-Out—An opportunity to Visit with TNU faculty, student government, clubs and organizations  in a carnival-type atmosphere
  • More Than a Mixer—Music, get-acquainted activities, and Abba Java coffee
  • LEAP Group session—Freshmen students were able to meet their assigned mentors and group members, with whom they will meet with regularly for their first semester of college.
  • Faculty advisor meetings
  • Pre-registration for fall classes
  • Music City Bus Tour—Students will load tour buses for a tour of downtown Nashville, Music City, USA, with a stop at the Ryman Auditorium and at the Parthenon for Frisbee and culture.
  • Welcome to the Neighborhood—Residence hall sign-ups and roommate assignments
