Trevecca runners named NAIA Cross Country Scholar-Athletes

Three members of the 2010 Trevecca Nazarene University mens’ and womens’ cross country team have been honored as Scholar-Athletes for the Fall semester by the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), the league office in Kansas City, Mo., announced this week.

Mark Hewitt and Frank Wheeler have been honored as the first men's cross country NAIA Scholar-Athletes at Trevecca. CJ Childs has been honored as the first women's cross country NAIA Scholar-Athlete at Trevecca. All were also named to the TranSouth Scholar-Athlete team.

This is the first year for men's cross country at Trevecca since the 1970's. The NAIA didn't begin honoring its scholar-athletes until after that time.

Qualifications for the NAIA Scholar-Athlete team include a student-athlete compiling a cumulative grade point average of 3.50 or better, being enrolled at their current school for at least one year, and reaching their junior year academically.
