NTC members gathered for a program of fellowship, networking, and inspiration, which featured the year’s theme: “Smarter Planet, Smarter You.”
Mike Svinte, Vice President, IBM’s Smarter Cities and Healthcare, provided the first keynote address, discussing IBM innovations and what he believes are core issues for technology workers in the next decade.
For a second keynote address, the council had planned to host Tim Armstrong, CEO of AOL, but Armstrong was unable to reach Nashville because of unfavorable weather conditions in New York. In his stead, Alexander Gounares, AOL's Chief Technology Officer, spoke to the crowd about his history as technology advisor to Bill Gates at Microsoft and about AOL’s strategies concerning media. He also highlighted the fact that AOL is currently building the StudioNow engineering center in Nashville based around video technologies on Music Row.
This was the second year in a row that the University hosted the NTC event which brought approximately 500 business and technology professionals from the Nashville community.
