Faculty donned their academic regalia and participated in the traditional academic march, honoring excellence in teaching and education.
Michael Karounos, last year’s recipient of the Teaching Excellence Award, gave the address, challenging students, faculty, and administration to a higher excellence found only by relationship with the divine.
Following Karounos’ speech, the winner of the 2011 Teaching Excellence Award was named. This year’s recipient was honored as a much-admired professor by students in both graduate and undergraduate School of Education classes, Suzann (Suzie) Harris MEd ’91, EdD ’03.
Upon exiting the service, Harris was greeted by School of Education co-workers who were lined up, clapping loudly for her achievement.
