Burton has successfully led the Trevecca program to an overall record of 99-68 during his 3 seasons, continuing the winning tradition of the Trojan program. Under Burton's leadership, Trevecca has finished second in the TranSouth Athletic Conference regular season standings in 2 of his 2 seasons. Burton, the 2011 TranSouth Coach of the Year, has guided the program to a 39-28 record in conference play.

Burton expressed gratitude for the opportunities he has been given at Trevecca. He said, "My time spent at Trevecca has been incredible and will remain apart of me forever."

Trevecca's director of athletics Brenda Patterson said, "Jonathan has provided our program with leadership on the field of play but also in the classroom. Fifteen of his 26 players this season were selected as TranSouth Scholar-Athletes. He has raised the bar for the caliber of student-athletes in our baseball program. He has also maintained our highly respected baseball program on the field over the last 3 years."
