Trevecca Nazarene University

Author speaks at NAACC

Trevecca Nazarene University’s own Tammy Daughtry ’10 MFT, who currently serves as director of Admissions Events on campus, will speak at a Nashville Area Association of Christian Counselors event on Friday, July 15.

In addition to her role at Trevecca, Daughtry is an author, speaker, advocate, and the founder of Co-Parenting International, an organization dedicated to addressing the critical impact of co-parenting on children of divorce. Since 2003, Tammy has been hosting seminars, small groups, and doing individual work with divorced and remarried parents. She is the author of Co-parenting Works! Helping Your Children Thrive After Divorce (Zondervan/HarperCollins).
With over one million new divorces a year, co-parenting is a growing part of today's modern family structure. This presentation will address issues relevant to single parents, step parents and the many gatekeepers who interact with these parents: counselors, attorneys, pastors, educators. Co-parenting is not easy, but with resources to encourage strategic, intentional efforts, it can be life changing for all parties.

Resources will be available to share with clients, including:
-      Understanding how their interaction will affect their children's developmental health and lifelong adjustment
-      How to increase a child's self-esteem while minimizing anxiety
-      Predictable risks to children of divorce and how clients can defy these statistics
-      How to help children feel at ease in both homes
-      How to develop co-parenting strategies in the best interest of the children
-      Communication systems to facilitate healthy co-parenting
-      Integration of stepparents into the co-parenting team
Lunch is available at 11:30 AM for a cost of $5.00. If you would like to reserve a lunch, email Jan Harvey at You may pay for lunch at the door or bring your own lunch. The presentation begins at Noon and is over at 1:00 PM. One CEU is available for $3.00 for members and $10 for non-members.

Each attendee will receive a free copy of Tammy's new book, Co-parenting Works! Helping Your Children Thrive After Divorce compliments of Zondervan/HarperCollins.
