Trevecca Nazarene University

Trevecca @ NYC 2011

When 6,000 students gathered for NYC 2011, Trevecca was there.

NYC (Nazarene Youth Conference) is an exciting event held by the Church of the Nazarene every 4 years. The event is geared for high school students and features dynamic speakers, worship with thousands of other high school students from the USA and Canada, informative breakout sessions, service projects in the community, high energy concerts, and much more.

This year’s event was held July 5-10 in the Louisville, Kentucky International Convention Center (KICC) and Downtown Arena. Participants engaged in events that were designed to foster spiritual and intellectual growth and the formation of new friendships. NYC offered recreation, worship, workshops on living the Christian life, and concerts with performances from Toby Mac, David Crowder Band, and Starfield. Speakers included Chris Folmsbee, Francis Chan, and David Graves, among others.

In addition, NYC attendees worked on a mission’s project with Bundles of Hope, an organization that works with the more than 8,000 children, including infants, toddlers, and school-age kids, that are homeless in the Louisville area.

Trevecca, along with other Nazarene colleges and universities, built booths to offer students more information about the school and give them an opportunity to meet TNU students and admissions counselors. Trevecca's booth featured a "Trevecca Park" theme, complete with lawn games, flat screen televisions, gaming systems, and real grass!
