Today, Nov. 4, Trevecca’s Office of Athletics announced that the University had been approved for charter membership in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC), the newest NCAA Division II athletic conference which is in the process of seeking NCAA approval."This step is the logical next one for Trevecca in our process of moving through the NCAA candidacy stage of and then moving toward full NCAA Division-II membership," said Trevecca athletic director Mark Elliott. "First was the decision to apply for division 2, then acceptance to the candidacy status in July. We've made the financial and philosophical commitment. The next step was conference affiliation, sport offerings, and facility enhancements. We now have the conference affiliation."
With Trevecca, the six-member institutions include Cedarville University, Central State University (Wilberforce, Ohio), Kentucky Wesleyan College (Owensboro, Ky.), Trevecca Nazarene University (Nashville, Tenn.), Urbana University (Urbana, Ohio), and Ursuline College (Pepper Pike, Ohio). Elliott notes that these school share similar missions and are like-minded. For more information, click here.
