On January 21, 2012, Trevecca Nazarene University will host a benefit concert to raise funds and awareness for the Nashville Rescue Mission in the Boone Building from 6:30 pm to 10 pm featuring Brian White, Karyn Williams, Pete Sallis, and Alicia Smith.
Trevecca first opened its doors in 1901 and has been working to serve the Nashville community for the past 110 years. By hosting this concert, Trevecca is once again showing ways in which it strives to aid people and organizations within Middle Tennessee.
The Nashville Rescue Mission is a non-profit organization designed to help people through life’s challenges. They strive to show people the saving grace of God. Through him, these people gain wisdom for living, find fulfillment in life and become a positive part of their community.
The Rescue Mission is able to keep its doors open to serve the community through donations from outside sources. During this extended economic recession, the Rescue Mission needs additional aid to serve those who walk in its doors. Realizing this need, Trevecca Nazarene University has formed a partnership with Music With A Purpose to support this worthy cause.
We are excited to have many talented performers for the Mission for the Mission concert. Brian White has written thirteen number-one songs and has won two Dove Awards. He won for Inspirational Song of the Year in 1994 for “Holding Out Hope to You,” recorded by Michael English. Karyn Williams is the newest member of Inpop Records and in the Spring of 2009, found herself in the studio working on her first radio single “Rejoice,” written & co-produced with Brian White and Barry. A song true to Karyn’s heart and faith, “Rejoice” shares the message that in all things God is in control and we can rejoice in His faithfulness. Pete Sallis, attended Belmont University and then he hit the road as a drummer for six years playing for many christian and country artists including Trent Wilmon, Bob Carlilse, and Tim Rushlow to name a few. Alicia Smith is a rising star in Country Music and has given God thanks for her gifts. Alicia is currently working on her first album set to be released in 2012. In the next year, she will be opening for some of Country Music’s biggest names.
Come out and help raise funds and awareness for the Nashville Rescue Mission through a night filled with great artist and music!
“Trevecca is delighted about this partnership with Music With A Purpose to help the Nashville Rescue Mission in caring for the needs of our own city. The Nashville Rescue Mission has been our neighbor for years and it is our hope the January concert yields strong support for one of Nashville’s most important and compassionate organizations,” said Dan Boone, president of Trevecca.
