David Sartor, adjunct instructor in the Department of Music, is a recipient of an ASCAP Plus award for 2012-2013, given by the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP). These annual awards serve to recognize and reward composers whose works have a unique prestige value beyond the scope of performance surveys. Award winners are selected each year by an independent panel of distinguished experts.
Sartor has received this award for twenty-four consecutive years. Earlier this year, he received high honors in both Composition Divisions of The 2012 American Prize, the national awards which celebrate American excellence in the arts. His "Thy Light is Come" for chorus, organ, brass, and timpani won third place in the Choral Composition Division, and his "Portent and Apotheosis" was named a finalist in the Orchestral Composition Division.
The University is proud of Sartor and his accomplishments.
