Spaulding elected university president

Henry Spaulding, PhD, is the new president of Mt. Vernon Nazarene University (MVNU), in Mt. Vernon, Ohio. Spaulding, formerly the provost at Mt. Vernon, had served as interim president there since July 1, 2012. He was elected president by vote of the MVNU Board of Trustees.

Spaulding, a 1974 graduate of Trevecca, earned the MDiv.from Nazarene Theological Seminary (NTS) and the PhD from Florida State University. His service to the Church of the Nazarene has included time in pastoral ministry in local churches, as a faculty member at Eastern Nazarene College in Quincy, Mass., as a faculty and administrator at Trevecca, and as a faculty member at NTS before accepting the position of provost at Mt. Vernon.

Spaulding taught at Trevecca from 1995 to 2007 as professor of theology and philosophy. He also served as dean of the School of Arts and Sciences and as director of the Graduate Religion Program.

Spaulding and his wife, Sharon, have three adult children.
