Trevecca Nazarene University’s first Mission Nashville in July 2012 earned such high praise from participants that the University has announced the addition of a second week for 2013. Mission Nashville will take place the weeks of July 1 and July 15, 2013, on the Trevecca campus. Registration for these two weeks began on November 1, and already 400 have signed up. Groups can register at http://missionnashville.org/registration/.
The first Mission Nashville brought 400 teenagers and chaperones to campus for this urban immersion experience (www.missionnashville.org). “It was an amazing week of worship and service for the 26 youth groups from ten states who poured their hearts out for God in the city of Nashville,” reported Holly Whitby, one of the directors.
During the day youth groups went to the inner city to minister to others, and at night everyone participated in corporate worship at Trevecca. Many participants said they had trouble deciding which they enjoyed more--the service opportunities or the evening worship services. God was faithful. Mission Nashville saw many youths saved and others called to full-time ministry.
Next year’s Mission Nashville will be an opportunity for youth groups from all over to take advantage of a fully-planned, well-organized mission trip for their youth. Trevecca’s Mission Nashville team does all the planning, and youth groups are housed in Trevecca’s residence halls. Next summer’s groups will serve in these Nashville agencies: Nashville Rescue Mission, Room in the Inn, and Second Harvest Food Bank. They will also lead a vacation Bible school in an urban housing community and work on projects with senior citizens.
